Kidney disease is a condition that affects not just the kidneys but is a systemic disease meaning it affects multiple systems of the body. Other parts of the body suffer due to the kidney's not functioning properly. One of the parts of the body that suffers is the musculoskeletal system. As it's name implies, the musculoskeletal system is made up of the muscles and bones of the body. Kidney disease has a direct negative effect on the muscles and bones of the body. And while dialysis helps with filtering the blood, it too has a negative effect of the musculoskeletal system. Renal rehab is designed to identify what muscles and bones are affected and to design a program to help address these limitations.

Over these next few weeks we will discuss how kidney disease and dialysis causes problems to the musculoskeletal system and then start to show ways that you can limit and even reverse some of the negative impacts on your musculoskeletal system. So subscribe to our blog so you don't miss any updates.
